2018 Summer Intern Full-Time Branches

  • Two Summer Interns will be selected to work at each of the full-time branches.
  • Summer Interns will earn $7.25 per hour and will be scheduled to work up to four (4) hours per day.
  • Summer Interns are limited to working up to 150 hours.
  • Summer Interns will be scheduled to work between Monday, May 23 and Saturday, August 11, 2018.
  • A mandatory orientation and training will be held in late May.


Among the duties that the summer interns will perform are:

  • Shelving and reading shelves, selecting books for display, helping with the Summer Reading Program, preparing and helping with craft programs and decorations, creating flyers, making copies, helping patrons with computer questions, answering the phone, performing inventory, working with the Food Bank in serving lunches to children.

There will be opportunities for training on a variety of topics, such as interviewing, customer service, and library databases as well as spending time on the library's mobile library and at the Library's Support Services Center departments and doing site visits to library branches throughout the library system.



Applicants must:

  1. Be at least 16 years of age by April 21, 2018.
  2. Still be enrolled in high school.
  3. Have a 2.0 GPA or better.
  4. Not be a graduate of high school when the internship program begins.
  • Preference will be given to applicants applying to work at the branch in the city, village or town in which they live.
  • Preference will be given to those applicants who have not been interns before.



  1. Apply online at for the internship location(s) desired. Deadline for applying is March 20, 2018.
  2. Indicate in your application which branch(es) you would like to be considered for.
  3. Interns will be selected for interview by lottery drawing.
  4. If selected for interview, bring letter of recommendation from a teacher/counselor as well as verification of GPA (JPAMS).
  5. After interview, applicant will be required to schedule a meeting with branch manager or department head at selected branch/location to deliver a parental/guardian signed permission slip.

  1. To successfully complete the process, after interview, a follow-up meeting with branch manager/department head at selected location must occur.
  2. Selected applicants must successfully undergo a substance screening.
  3. Selected applicants must have a social security card and photo identification (State Issued ID/Driver's License or School ID with Photo)
